Word of Mouth

Adoption is the best choice when it comes to growing your family.  Adoption in fact saves 2 lives.  Obviously, you are saving the life of the animal that you are adopting, but you are also making room for a homeless animal that can utilize that newly opened up space at the animal shelter.  Just as humans should be treated with respect and judged based on their character, the same golden rule should apply to animals as well.  Unfortunately, the misconception that shelter animals are somehow damaged still exists... I think most people will find that there is no love like the love of a shelter pet.  They will be forever greatful!

I support rescues because I want to be a part of decreasing the overpopulation of strays worldwide, and I leaned more about international adoption after following the harrowing stories of stray Russian dogs during the Sochi Winter Olympics in 2014. 2 years later, I adopted my “Sochi Dog” and our family is complete. Adopting a dog is the best decision we ever made. There is a rescue dog out there for every single person and family

We only adopt rescue pets and currently have 2 cats and 2 dogs. Each rescue organization we dealt with was very careful to screen us as applicants and educate us on the responsibilities and commitments that go with pet ownership. They truly care about finding each pet a good home.

Young Family with Pet Dog

We were not animal people. We certainly were not the sort to go and purchase a pet. The best our children were going to get was to bring home a stuffed toy.  And then we met her.

For a family who never expected to have a pet, adopting a cat changed our world.  It would be near impossible to envision our household without the love of our Estrella.  She has been a source of joy and comfort for almost 10 years.  Loving our adopted cat has led us to open our home to many other animals, including becoming a foster family for several dogs.

Adopting an animal may seem an act of charity but it has offered us endless returns.

Found Animals is an organization that works with the Los Angeles County animal shelters to save cats and dogs. My role is to trained members of our community to take care of our animals while they wait to go to their "furever" home. It is a very rewarding job in a field that has meant so much to me since I was very young. I grew up with dogs as my constant companion and always knew I wanted to have pets of my own when I became an adult. We genuinely believe that they are thankful to be adopted; they show us their gratitude through lots of purrs and cuddles! They have good reason to feel this way. By adopting an animal from a shelter or rescue you are TRULY saving a life. With everyone's help we can become a No-Kill Nation!

Most of the success stories we have seen with our customers who have adopted are from the families who took the dog's personality into consideration rather than the dog's breed.  A dog who fits a family's lifestyle makes a tremendous difference in making a happy home for the dog.  While breed temperaments do play a part, it's best to judge a dog individually rather than by stereotypes.

People need to realize that the dogs that are left at shelters are there for many different reasons. The dog's owner might have gotten ill and couldn't take care of their pet anymore.  Some dogs are taken away from their owners because they are mistreated. While others are just left with no reason at all. Whatever the reason, all of those dogs would love to find forever homes with families that will love them and treat them good. A lot of people assume the reason dogs end in shelters is because the dog was viscous or poorly trained, which is not usually the case.
