HOW TO ADOPT
Once you've decided to adopt, it can be scary figuring out how to get the pet you want, if you've never done it before.
1. RESEARCH YOUR PERFECT DOG
The first step is research, research research! You must first figure out what kind of dog you would like. A mixed or pure breed? Big or small? Old or young? You can research what kind of dog is best for you and your family.
2. FIND AN ADOPTION SHELTER
This step is very important in getting your perfect pet, and where the real research comes in. The internet will be your best friend in the step, it will help you find the best suited local adoption center. If you are after a specific breed, this is the step where you can find a center that specializes in them. You can go to the reputable adoption agencies page to start off your search.
3. FIND YOUR ANIMAL
Now you are ready to meet some dogs! You can go to the adoption centers you have researched and meet the animals. Keep your mind open, and talk to the people at the shelter about what your are looking for. They can be very helpful, and make the adoption process easier. This process is more complicated than going to a breeder would be, but in the end, it much more rewarding.
4. MAKE AN OFFER
Once you have found your perfect pup, it is time to talk to those working at the shelter. They will guide you through the process that is normal at their specific center. After that, you won't have to wait long until you can take your new dog home.
